What to Watch: December Movie Releases

With more than 25 movies coming out during the month of December, there is something for everyone. What do you plan to see this month?

Coming out on December 4th: MI5; Christmas Eve; The Wannabe; and Life.

The Lady in the Van – Miss Shepherd, a vagrant woman, parks her decrepit van outside a man’s house and stays living there for 15 years. He eventually allows her to park her vehicle in his drive, sparking an often-strained relationship which ends when she dies in 1989.

The Letters -A drama that explores the life of Mother Teresa through letters she wrote to her longtime friend and spiritual advisor, Father Celeste van Exem over a nearly 50-year period.

Coming out on December 11th: Don Verdean; Close Range; and The Big Short.

In the Heart of the Sea -Based on the 1820 event, a whaling ship is preyed upon by a sperm whale, stranding its crew at sea for 90 days, thousands of miles from home.

The Ridiculous 6 – An outlaw who was raised by Native Americans discovers that he has five half-brothers; together the men go on a mission to find their wayward, deadbeat dad.

Coming out on December 18th: Mojin: The Lost Legend; Extraction; and Son of Saul.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens – Thirty years after defeating the Galactic Empire, Han Solo and his allies face a new threat from the evil Kylo Ren and his army of Stormtroopers.

Sisters – Two sisters decide to throw one last house party before their parents sell their family home.

Coming out on December 23rd:

Alvin & the Chipmunks: The Road Chip – Through a series of misunderstandings, Alvin, Simon and Theodore come to believe that Dave is going to propose to his new girlfriend in Miami…and dump them. They have three days to get to him and stop the proposal, saving themselves not only from losing Dave but possibly from gaining a terrible stepbrother.

45 Years – In the week leading up to their 45th wedding anniversary, a couple receive an unexpected letter which contains potentially life changing news.
