Wanderlust Wednesday: Greece

When I saw Mamma Mia!, starring Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried, I knew I had to add Greece to my bucket list. The whitewashed houses and buildings, some with blue roofs (mostly churches), are a beautiful contrast to the sea seen in most photos. The blue and white combination, along with the preexisting colors of the Greek flag and the preexisting colors in other islands too, have become the strongest “trademark” of the Greek Cycladic islands, Santorini included. These cycladic houses are painted white to reflect the harsh summer sun. In the last few years, other colors have been introduced, including […]

Wanderlust Wednesday: Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a stunning city. The bustling, colorful city streets… the history and the architecture… the lively food scene… the city as a whole would be an exciting addition to everyone’s bucket list. I’d like to visit Ocean Park (pictured below), the Arch Moon Tower, the “Big Buddha” at Po Lin Monastery on Lantau Island (pictured below), The Wisdom Path, and the Pavilion of Absolute Perfection at Nan Lian Garden. The cemeteries (pictured above, bottom left corner) are unique and would be a must-see for me. The Hong Kong skyline is beautiful, but I’ve read that it is even more stunning […]

Ever wonder about the bedrooms of those TV characters like Carrie Bradshaw and Serena van der Woodsen? Glamour magazine shares some cools details about these rooms. Daily Dose of Design shares […]

Wanderlust Wednesday: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Wanderlust Wednesday: Rio de Janeiro / www.vanesshwood.com

Later this summer, Rio de Janeiro will be hosting the Summer Olympics. And despite the Zika virus flying around down in Brazil (’cause it’s flying around here in the U.S. as well), Rio de Janeiro is a city full of beauty. I want to walk on the Copacabana Beach, walk up and down the colorful Escadaria Selaron (a stairway decorated by Chilean-born artist Jorge Selaron), and stand at the feet of the famous statue of Christ the Redeemer. “Rio de Janeiro? But it’s not safe!” If you think about it, nowhere is 100% safe, but if take the necessary precautions and travel […]

Wanderlust Wednesday: Texas A&M

Back in September 2015, I talked my brother, Tim, into taking me to the last Texas A&M home football game, scheduled for November 14th. It was Aggies vs Western Carolina. Me and my brother, Tim, as we headed out to tour the Texas A&M campus. I booked my flight with my Delta miles (Thanks DELTA!!) and the crew were simply wonderful, especially when they indulged me and my traveling bunny by posing for a photo! (Sidebar: You’ll see my traveling bunny in several photos. Unfortunately, he was damaged during the trip and is now retired to a nice bunny-loving community in […]
