Women of Style: Oscars Edition

On Sunday many of my favorite actresses walk the Red Carpet on their way to the 89th Academy Awards show and looked absolutely stunning. I was eager to wrote a post recapping the Oscars fashion, but decided to wait and write one combined “Women of Style” piece, kind of like I did for the Emmys. So instead of highlighting the Oscars style of just one woman, I thought I’d spotlight the beautiful style of 15 women. In my opinion, these women showcased their personal style beautifully.

I wrote a post, which came out on Sunday morning, looking back at some of my favorite Oscars fashion moments in anticipation of Sunday evening’s 89th Academy Awards show. While my husband was watching the Daytona 500, I was watching the pre-Red Carpet show on E! Network.

So who made my “Women of Style” list?

Viola Davis in Armani Prive
Teresa Palmer in Armani Prive
Scarlett Johansson in Alaia
Ruth Negga in Valentino
Octavia Spencer in Marchesa
Karlie Kloss in Stella McCartney
Kirsten Dunst in Dior
Janelle Monae in Ellie Saab
Jessica Biel in Kaufman Franco
Isabelle Huppert in Armani Prive
Hailee Steinfeld in Ralph and Russo
Emma Stone in Givenchy
Cynthia Erivo in Paolo Sebastian
Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton

One dress that I would like to highlight is the one worn by Olivia Culpo and was designed by Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig of Marchesa. The idea for this dress came from one particular source: water. Chapman and Craig had partnered with Stella Artois to create a dreamy Oscars gown for Olivia Culpo.

“Our concept for the dress is to really evoke the mood of water—so the idea is to use beads that feel like they’re reflecting light as if they were water,” explained Keren. This is all thanks to the Stella Artois “Buy A Lady A Drink Campaign,” which helps Water.org provide five years of clean water for one person in the developing world for each Limited-Edition Stella Artois Chalice sold. Not only is the dress inspired by the cause, it’s actually crafted with beads that are made from the very same Chalices. So, in other words, the actual dress will be helping to provide water for someone in the developing world. “It feels really nice to be a part of something that’s not just about looking the best on the red carpet. It really is about the bigger message and the difference that this is all going to make,” noted the star. (Source: E! 1. Yes, Liz… I watched til the very shocking finish! I love awards shows, from beginning to end. I paid dearly the next day as my butt was dragging at work, but I made it! What was your favorite part of the show?
