When I saw Alicia Vikander take the stage in her yellow strapless high-low dress to accept her Oscar, I knew then that she had a beauty and a style that couldn’t be match by any other actress. This is why she is this month’s “Woman of Style.”
Vikander won both the Academy Award and the Screen Actor’s Guild for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of painter Gerda Wegener in The Danish Girl (2015), opposite of Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne.
Vikander trained as a ballet dancer at the Royal Swedish Ballet School is Stockholm, and at the School of American Ballet in New York. She starred along side Kiera Knightly and Jude Law in Joe Wright’s film adaptaion of Anna Karenina in which she portrayed Princess Ekaterina “Kitty” Alexandrovna Shcherbatskaya. She also appeared in the Julian Assange biopic The Fifth Estate. In 2014 and 2015, Vikander achieved global recognition and acclaim for her roles as activist Vera Brittain in Testament of Youth (2014), and Ava, an AI, in Ex Machina (2015), for which she was nominated for the Golden Globe and BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress. This Swedish beauty also starred in The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and most recently, The Light Between Oceans, with her boyfriend Michael Fassbender. She is also taking over the role of Lara Croft, from Angelina Jolie, in Tomb Raider, which is currently in pre-production.
Vikander has such an innocent beauty and a lithe dancer’s body. She could wear a paper sack and still be stunning. Don’t you agree?
