If I Could Be Friends With Anyone…

I was always a bit of a nerd in school. I was never part of the “cool” crowd and I didn’t get invited to parties. I think the first party I got invited to that I actually attended was on prom night my Senior year in high school. Even in college, you could easily identify the “cool” kids and point out each clique. Me? I was on the newspaper staff for one year, and I was President of Sigma Tau Delta, the National English Honor Society. My senior year in college, I all but vanished from college life. I only […]

Famous Celebrity Siblings

Dakota and Elle Fanning. Jake & Maggie Gyllenhaal. Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. Chris and Liam Hemsworth. Ben and Casey Affleck. Donnie and Mark Wahlburg. The Wayans brothers. Famous siblings, just to name a few. They have been in some of my favorite movies, and some of them are just nice to look at (thank you, Hemsworth brothers)! Here’s a look at a few of these famous siblings. (All photos are from Pinterest, but I did site the original source, when possible.) John and Joan Cusack have appeared as geeks in Sixteen Candles, Say Anything, Grosse Pointe Blank, and High Fidelity. He has been one of […]

Movie Review: “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”

Last week, I turned down the lights, slipped a DVD into the player and watched with intrigue how seven seniors “outsourced” their retirement to a resort in India. What movie did I watch, you ask? The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, starring Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Deb Patel, Tom Wilkinson, Maggie Smith, Penelope Wilton, Ronald Pickup, and Celia Imrie. Based on Deborah Moggach’s novel, These Foolish Things, this movie was heart-warming, funny, and touching. The screenplay was written by Ol Parker, and the movie was directed by John Madden, who also directed Shakespeare in Love. What I’m Listening to Now

When I’m writing, whether I’m writing on this blog or working on a short story or a script, I have to have music or the TV going on in the background. Sometimes when I hear a particular song, I can tell someone exactly where I was and what I was doing when that song was playing. Or there are songs that evoke a certain memory and I think, “Wow, this song belongs on the soundtrack of my life!” Then there are those songs that just make me move, and by move, I mean tap my foot, shake my booty, clap […]

“Hit & Run” is a Fun Ride

I’m not the kind of girl who is into car chase movies, but Dax Shepard’s Hit & Run was an exception. Photo Credit: IMDb Dax wrote, directed, and starred in this “car chase”/”road trip” action romantic comedy. And I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed this movie as much as I did, and even my husband thought it was a good movie. Of course, he also liked the car that Dax drove, because like Dax, my husband is a “car guy.” Here is a brief description of the movie: “Former getaway driver Charlie Bronson (Dax Shepard)  jeopardizes his Witness Protection Plan […]
