Where to Find the Fashion & Styles You’ve Always Been Looking For

Where to Find Fashion & Style / www.vanessahwood.com

Fashion is something we all have our own opinions on, and we’re not always going to agree on what looks good and makes a statement. And that’s a good thing! The fashionable and stylistic world be a lot more boring if we all liked the same thing.

But seeing as style can be so different, it can often be hard to find a style of your own. Maybe the clothes you wear are just cheap pieces you don’t think much of. Maybe they’re basic and versatile so you can easily dress for any occasion. Maybe you just don’t have a clue what makes you feel good in your own skin, and you’re muddling along!

“Create your own style. Let it be unique for yourself and yet identifiable to others.”

Anna Wintour

Fashion shouldn’t be hard, and you shouldn’t have to look high and low for a style you like. So with that in mind, let’s think about how you can find the fashion and style you’ve always been looking for.

Check Out Review Sites

There’s a lot of sites out there that review clothes and accessories and the styles they fit into, and you could go on a real internet trawl through them to find what you’d like to wear. Websites can be extremely useful for anyone who’s stuck for clothing inspiration, seeing as sites like Pinterest can help you create a mood board for your entire wardrobe.

I mean, you don’t want to have to go all the way out to your local downtown center or mall in order to find some clothing you like, seeing as there’s no guarantee you’re actually going to find something that makes you both look and feel good in the changing room mirror!

So window shop at home, with apps like FashNow, and swipe left for anything you hate the look of! Or maybe you’re sick of the jewelry in your old and batted box. Just turn to the best James Allen review to see if their diamonds are worth your time and money.

Check Out Reviews from Bloggers and Influencers

Although it may be true that some bloggers and influencers get paid handsomely by big brands to write a good review about a certain product or a product line, I still find myself looking to some of my favorite fashion and style bloggers for recommendations on certain fashion brands and styles.

Bloggers provide endless style and fashion inspiration. They know where and when to shop, and often share their finds with their readers.

Those bloggers I trust the most are those who are truly loyal to a small handful of brands. They may wear a lot of different brands, but there are those tried and true brands that they inevitably go back to over and over again.

For instance, Jacey Duprie, a.k.a. Damsel in Dior, loves her Solid & Striped bathing suits, Cult Gaia and Staud bags, and Janessa Leone hats. She gives honest reviews, not only on her blog, but on her Instagram stories, about certain clothing brands.

Courtney Kerr, a.k.a. KERRently by Courtney Kerr, said in one of her YouTube videos that when she finds an item she likes, she buys it in multiple colors.

Other bloggers may not be loyal to a handful of brands, but know what kind of fashion and styles work for their bodies. I also think that some bloggers collaborate with certain brands because of their loyalty to that brand.

Look in Your Own Wardrobe!

Your wardrobe is a monument to all the past styles of yesterday, like the style you liked for only a few months while you were deep in a goth phase. Or the style you hated but had to wear anyway, because it adhered to your work dress code. All the styles that have been in and out of your wardrobe have something to teach you, and now’s the time to open up the doors and really listen.

Sometimes I will go through my entire closet and dressers, just trying on clothes to see what fits and what doesn’t fit. I will inevitably find a few pieces that I forgot I even purchased and wondered why I haven’t wore them yet.

Items that don’t fit, or don’t spark joy, will go into the sale or donate piles. The rest of the items will get another once over and then back into the closet or dresser they go. That whole process makes me feel like I’ve just been on a shopping spree and my mood is instantly lightened.

Along this line of thinking, don’t forget that you and your friends can have a clothes swap. If you’ve always envied your friends style, then try a clothing swap and get some fashion and style tips from your friends.

Now Ask Yourself…

What pieces do you still own that you don’t wear anymore? What are their shapes and colors? What other items did you often pair them with? Once you can answer these questions, you’ll have a better idea of what kind of clothes to buy in the future – simply put, you’ve worn a certain style before, and now you want to avoid it!

Do you feel a little lost with the clothes you wear and the accessories you put on top of them? What fashion sense do you have about you? Well, your personal style doesn’t have to be battle!

Let me know what you think about this topic! I can’t wait to hear what you have to say!

Yours Truly,
Vanessa
