Links I Love: September

Links I Love / www.vanessahwood.com

I’ve been reading a lot of blogs lately, and I am excited to share some of the Links I Love. This month was full of good links — from signs that you’re outgrowing your job to three major investments that won’t don’t cost anything, and fashion movies that will make you feel like you’ve been to fashion week to eight things you’re spending too much money on. Check ’em out!

8 Things You’re Spending Too Much Money On and How to Stop {The Everygirl}

How do you start your morning? With a cup of coffee, right? And if you go to a fancy coffee shop or Starbucks, then that cup of coffee could be costing you over $3 every day (assuming you buy a cup of coffee every day). You could save over $1,000 a year by making your own coffee at home and taking it with you. Some other things this article says we’re spending too much money on are late fees, gym memberships, and trendy clothes. What I like about this article is that the writer, Elle, offers a “fix” for each of these money-sucking traps.

5 Signs You’re Outgrowing a Job {The Everygirl}

Has your current job lost its luster? Do you dread going to work? Or does your job just not spark that fire of enthusiasm in your heart? Then you may have outgrown your job. The writer, Kat, points out that one sign is that everyone comes to you for advice (instead of your boss) and this can point to the fact that you have far exceeded the duties and responsibilities of your current job. These signs kind of hit home for me, so maybe it’s time for me to do a little soul-searching. Thanks, Kat!

10 Powerful Ways to Boost Your Confidence {Chapter Friday}

“Sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty second of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise, something great will come of it.” I love that the writer of this post began with a great quote from We Bought a Zoo, with Matt Damon. {Quick sidebar – We Bought a Zoo is a wonderful movie that everyone should see!} How can you boost your confidence? Do something that scares you. Flirt. Set a small goal and achieve it. Be your own cheerleader. There’s four, but click the link to find out what the other six are!

20 Easy Things You Can Do to Improve Your Life {The Everygirl}

Paige points out obvious ways you can improve your life, like decluttering your space and practicing self-kindness. One thing I never thought of, but is a good idea if you can manage it, is to check your bank statement every two weeks and choose one thing to cut out. One other way to improve your life, and it’s something I do every morning, and that’s to make your bed. It’s simple, but it makes me feel like I’ve got a part of my life together!

6 Iconic Fashion Movies that are Basically Like Being at Fashion Week {Brit & Co.}

Think Sex & the City and The Devil Wears Prada. There are some amazing fashions in those movies, am I right? I’m sure you could come up with your own list of fashion movies, but this list is a great starting point.

3 Major Investments to Make that Don’t Cost a Thing {Zanita Studio}

I’m sure you’re like me and thinking, “how can an investment not cost anything?” Well, Susan details three investments that I hadn’t thought of as “investments”, but she’s got a good point. After reading this blog post, I’m definitely going to sit down and have a good talk with myself about how I can do a better job of investing in these three things.

I hope you enjoyed these links. I usually post my “Links I Love” on a Saturday, but I had scheduled another post for this past Saturday {Dinner Party with the “Original Supermodels” – because I forgot to post this particular post last weekend}. Anyway… I gave a lot of love to The Everygirl, but they have a staff of wonderful writers and their blog posts really captured my eyes this past month.

Until next month…

Yours Truly,
Vanessa
