Christmas Around the World

Merry Christmas everyone! Today we celebrate Christmas around the world! As I watched National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation last night, I was reminded how I used to drive my Grandma Lashlee and my mom around town looking at Christmas lights. Sometimes my Grandpa Lashlee would go with us.

My grandma would love these lovely Christmas lights from around the world.

From left to right (top to bottom): Washington, D.C., Mexico City (Mexico), Rio de Janiero (Brazil), Nigeria, Gothenburg (Sweden), Venice (Italy), Munich (Germany), Sydney (Australia), and India.

I especially find Christmas in Paris particularly beautiful!

Christmas in London isn’t half bad either! I love how you can see the London Eye from this view.

Want to know more about Christmas in every country? Well, did you know that Santa Claus has many names? In Korea, he is called “Grandpa Santa”. In Japan, he is known as “Mr. Santa”, and in China he is called “Christmas Old Man.”

This list of the “most fabulously festive cities in the world” is pretty interesting. For instance, did you know that the first snow globe was patented in Vienna, Austria? Also, one of my favorite holiday movies, Love Actually, was set in London.

You may also find these “12 Christmas Traditions from around the World” interesting, like how the families in Ireland leave mince pies and a Guinness as a snack for Santa. In Russia and the Ukraine, Christmas Eve falls on January 6th {which is my birthday}. Also, learn how to say “Merry Christmas” in a lot of different languages.

Wherever you find yourself this Christmas holiday, I wish you all a wonderful holiday! May you and your families and friends enjoy all of your traditions, and even make some new traditions this year. Even though we celebrate Christmas one day out of the year, I hope that you will keep the spirit of Christmas in your heart all year round.

Yours Truly,
Vanessa
