A Few of My Favorite Things: Products I Love!

There are certain things that I like, and then there are other things that I love. Here are some of the skincare and haircare products I love and currently use.

I have a fairly low-maintenance skincare and haircare routine, which is a blessing considering the fact that I’m nearing the big four-oh (40)!

My skincare routine is simple. I wash my face with Mary Kay facial cleansing cloths. Then I moisturize with either Josie Maran Argan Oil (mornings) or grapeseed oil (at night).

I never wore make-up growing up, except maybe concealer. I did experiment with make-up several times in either high school or college, but I never really took to it then. I really only started wearing make-up about 2-3 years ago. Now I wear Mary Kay Mineral Powder in Ivory 2. For blush, I use NARS The Multiple (for cheeks, eyes and lips) in Orgasm, followed by a dash of Mary Kay Bronzing Highlighting Powder.

I have eye allergies (I use Opcon eyedrops), which means I don’t use any eyeshadow or mascara on a regular basis. However, I do curl my eyelashes every other day. On the rare occasion that I do use eyeshadow, I just swipe NARS The Multiple (in Orgasm) on my lids followed by a single coat of Bare Mineral Flawless Definition mascara in black.

As for my haircare routine, it’s also fairly simple. I have naturally curly hair, which means if I don’t use some kind of product on my hair, it will be fuzzy, frizzy, and totally out of control!

Last year I splurged for a Ouidad haircut ($100) and purchased the travel size kit of Ouidad haircare products (shampoo/conditioner/gel/rejuvenating mist). I haven’t had another Ouidad haircut, but Barbara at Bliss Salon in Knoxville gave me a wonderful haircut a while back. She even let me show her how I style my hair using the Ouidad “rake and shake” method.

I shampoo my hair maybe once or twice a week, but I use moisturizing conditioner on my hair everyday. The brand varies, depending on my mood, but I did recently purchase a jar of Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Intensive Treatment. I’ve only used it once, so I can’t give review it yet. I use a wide tooth comb in the shower because after I do the “rake and shake” on my curly hair, I try not to touch it and I don’t run my fingers through my hair after it is dry.

After I shower, I towel dry my hair with a microfiber towel and spray Infusium 23 leave-in conditioner all over. Then I use Pantene gel for curly hair. Then after I’m dressed, but before I leave the house, I use Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy on the ends and then I flip my head over and massage the remainder of the balm onto my scalp. (Note: My husband uses this great smelling balm on his goatee, which not only moisturizes it but gives it a nice sheen.)

Here’s a short list of some of the other things I’m loving right now:

My Tiffany Sommerset (with diamonds) ring, which was an anniversary present a few years ago!

Chanel nail polish. I currently own three and gifted my mother two. The three I own are: Pulsion (Limited Edition), Midnight Red, and Forbidden (which was given to me by my friend, Pam Reed).
