Dress Form Outfit: Ready for Fall

Dress Form Outfit / www.vanessahwood.com

Now that Fall is quickly approaching, my style is changing. I mean, it still feels like Summer, but I’m ready for the cooler temps. This dress form outfit is a perfect pre-Fall outfit. I paired this fitted denim shirt with an olive/brown-colored belted skirt. I rolled the sleeves up to give it a casual feel and stacked a few black and white marble-colored bangles on one sleeve. As for footwear, I would pair this outfit with a some knee-high boots. I also like the idea of heels with this outfit, but they would have to be the right pair. Here […]

Woman of Style: Nina Garcia

I have never seen a bad photo of Nina Garcia, who, if you don’t already know, is the Editor-in-Chief of ELLE and a Project Runway judge. This Columbian fashion journalist has an enviable style, and she shares her style tips in each of her four books. And in honor of New York Fashion Week, I decided to make her this month’s “Woman of Style.” Nina began her career in the fashion industry in the early 1980s. She worked in the public relations department for Perry Ellis and its then-designer, Marc Jacobs. After leaving Marc Jacobs, she moved to Mirabella. From […]

But not everything is as it seems on the gram. I’ve heard people say that IG features people’s highlight reel of their lives. I […]

Fashionable Quotes / www.vanessahwood.com

As I reflect on my childhood, I don’t recall ever really being a fashionista, even though I have loved fashion for as long as I can remember. I was more of a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl, a real “tomboy”. Of course, like everyone else at one point in their life, my love for fashion has blossomed into a full-fledged admiration of all things fashion. So I’d like to pass along some fashionable quotes from some really fabulous fashion insiders, including Anna Wintour, Christian Louboutin, and the great late Alexander McQueen. “Just be true to yourself, and listen as […]

Insightful Documentary About Timeless Icons + 15 Must-See Fashion Documentaries

must-see fashion documentaries

This past weekend, I spent several hours watching some interesting fashion documentaries. With the release of McQueen, the documentary about the legendary fashion designer Alexander McQueen, I got to thinking about the other fashion documentaries I watched, like The September Issue, Dior and I, and Four Seasons With Dior. A few years ago, I flipped on the TV and began watching a documentary on “supermodels.” It didn’t feature Gisele Bundchen or Miranda Kerr or Cindy Crawford, but it featured such timeless icons as Cheryl Tiegs, Beverly Johnson, and Paulina Porizkova, and many other supermodels of their time. About Face: The Supermodels, Then […]
