Halloween Dinner Party: It’s Just a Bunch of Hocus Pocus!

Halloween Dinner Party Hocus Pocus

If you like Halloween, then you’re probably a fan the movie Hocus Pocus. Did you know that this year is the 25th Anniversary of this Halloween classic? For this reason, I have decided to invite the Sanderson sisters – played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy – to my {imaginary} Halloween dinner party!

The Sanderson sisters – Winifred, Sarah, and Mary – were a trio of diabolical witches that were executed in the 17th century but “thanks to a combination of a spell spoken before their demise and the accidental actions of Max, the new-kid-in-town, the sisters have but one night to secure their continuing existence.” {Source: IMDb}

Winifred Sanderson: Sisters, All Hallow’s Eve has become a night of frolic, where children wear costumes and run amok!
Sarah: Amok!
[dances around]
Sarah: Amok, amok, amok, amok, amok.
[Winifred punches Sarah in the stomach]
Sarah: Ugh!

All three of these women have appeared in both Broadway and off-Broadway shows, and they each have gone on appear in some wonderful {and some not-so-wonderful} films and TV shows. Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker have also appeared  together in The First Wives Club, in which Sarah was cast as Bette’s rival.

My ideal evening with these three wonderfully talented women would be a relaxed one in which we’d feast on chips, salsa and guacamole, and taco salads, all while we sipped on margaritas. As we dined, I would ask them a slew of questions. What would you want to ask these talented actresses? I’d probably ask them some random “73 Questions” type of questions {i.e., favorite song; favorite movie; favorite place to vacation; describe yourself in a hashtag; favorite time of day; etc.}.

Later, I’d have Hocus Pocus playing in the background while we sipped on homemade hot chocolate as we handed out Halloween candy to the children.

I think this would be one of my most favorite {imaginary} dinner parties yet.

Yours Truly,
Vanessa
