Looking chic is the style aim of many a woman, but it can be a difficult look to achieve. There are so many clothes in so many different styles out there that it can be hard to know where to start.

If you’re like most women, your wardrobe comprises of a mish-mash of different styles, patterns, and colors, which can complicate things even further. If that sounds familiar, you need to start again, and you can do that by learning the very simple secrets to always looking chic – secrets I have laid out for you below.

Follow the three-color rule

A really simple, but very effective technique you can use to always look chic is to pick three complementary colors and base your outfit around them. You can mix staples, textures, and even patterns, but as long as you stick to no more than three colors, your outfits will always look amazingly well put together.

The chicest combination choice is arguably the navy, white and red tri-color combo, which always looks amazing, but feel free to experiment with other hues and come up with a style that really suits you.

Make timeless choices

It’s always tempting to blow your clothing budget on the latest trends that you see on the catwalk or sported by fashion influencers on Instagram, but is that really the best use of your money?

If your aim is to always look chic, probably not. You see, fashions change rapidly and what looked amazing last month could be the object of ridicule the next. Not only that, but the latest trends are usually fast fashion and they simply won’t last as long as a well-made classic piece.

Now, if you want to ensure that you’re always the chicest you can be, you’re going to want to eschew the latest fads in favor of those pieces that never go out of style – things like a crisp white shirt, a quality black leather jacket, and little black dress – the things you can wear anywhere and always look amazing.

Embrace minimalism

When it comes to looking stylish and sophisticated, it is often the case that less is more. For example, a simple piece of silver jewelry will typically look chicer than a big, bold statement piece that’s made out of every color of rainbow glass and a plain black leather jacket will look more effortlessly chic than a badge filled denim jacket ever could.

Of course, there are exceptions to the rule and a well-chosen pattern can look every bit as chic as a simple sheath dress, but you need to strike a balance and avoid overdoing it if you want to truly look your best.

Graceful glasses

If you visit this website, you will see that some glasses, round-rimmed ones, in particular, look a lot more sophisticated than others. So, if you’re a glasses wearer, do not forget to upgrade your eyewear and make the right choices for your own personal style and chicness.

Don’t show too much skin

There is nothing wrong with showing a little leg or baring your shoulders if you are so inclined but if your aim is to be chic, you should not bare too much flesh at any one time.

So, for example, if you decide to rock a mini dress that shows off your legs, keep your cleavage and shoulders covered or if you wear a dress with a plunging neckline, ensure that your hem is at least below your knee, and ideally full-length. This will give you a much classier look than you’d be able to achieve when showing everything.

Take care

Taking good care of your clothing is the cornerstone to always looking chic. It doesn’t matter how expensive or how sophisticated your little black dress is if it’s crinkled or frayed at the hem, for example, That’s why you should start reading the care labels of your garments carefully AND make sure you follow them.

It’s also why you should invest in a clothing steamer, which will refresh and de-wrinkle your outfits without damaging them like an iron can. It’s also why you should probably learn how to sew and do basic alterations and fixes. If you look after your outfits they will keep you looking good.

Get serious about grooming

You don’t have to spend hours in front of the mirror, but taking the time to look after your skin and hair will go a long way to helping you achieve the chic look that you so long for, so don’t neglect your grooming routine!

Here’s to looking chic always!

Yours Truly,
Vanessa
