Man of Style: Brad Pitt

Man of Style: Brad Pitt / www.vanessahwood.com

Brad Pitt started gaining points in the style game a long time ago. And of all the A-list Hollywood actors, Brad Pitt is the one who has truly proved that style has no age limit, which is why I named him this month’s “Man of Style.”

What was the first movie you saw that starred Brad Pitt? Was it Thelma & Louise? What about A River Runs Through It? Or was it Fight Club? Some of my other favorite movies that he starred in are {in no particular order}:

Meet Joe Black
Mr. & Mrs. Smith
Moneyball
Troy
The Tree of Life
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Ocean’s Eleven / Ocean’s Twelve / Ocean’s Thirteen
Seven Years in Tibet
Spy Game
12 Monkeys

Did You Know…?

Brad was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and raised in Springfield, Missouri.

He attended the University of Missouri, where he majored in journalism with a focus on advertising. {However, he left college two credits short of graduating to move to California.}

In November 2001, Brad Pitt formed a production company with his then-wife, Jennifer Aniston, and TV and film producer, Brad Grey. With Brad Grey’s departure for Paramount Pictures in 2005, and after the divorce settlement with ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, he now solely owns Plan B Entertainment.

Brad is the first man ever to be named “Sexiest Man Alive” twice by People magazine (1994 and 2000). {IMDb}

He took Greek language lessons in secret to surprise his then-wife Jennifer Aniston who is of Greek ancestry. {IMDb}

Hollywood Heartthrob

Brad earned his Hollywood heartthrob status the moment he hit scene some three decades ago. Pitt brought the swagger he’s developed throughout his career, transforming his style over the years — perhaps most notably in the aftermath of his split from Angelina Jolie.

There is no question Brad has always been a style chameleon. In the early ’90s, he was known for his laid-back fashion — rocking long locks, patterned shirts and a bit of scruff — the actor became very much the leading man both on screen and on the red carpet.

He regularly stepped out in designer suits and tuxedos, but he still managed to add a bit of SoCal flair in the form of sun-kissed strands and his all-around cool-guy attitude. {US Magazine}

“Truthfully, my favorite sound in the entire world is opening up the balcony doors in the French Quarter and hearing four different sounds playing at once from the apartments across the way or down the street. It’s a balmy night, twilight, and I’m drinking a beer, and this feeling just falls over me, of contentment. It gives me goosebumps to talk about it.”

Sexiest Man Alive

Twenty years ago, Brad Pitt was named People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive {2000}. He has graced the cover of many magazines since that time, always staring into the camera with those smoldering blue eyes.

“What’s valuable to me has become clearer as I’ve got older. To me, it’s about the value of your time and your day and the value of the people you spend it with. It’s about me being a strong father and guide and a good match for my significant other. Then, if I’m going to go to work, it must be something of value to me. I’m much more experienced now, so I can find films that are interesting quicker and cut out the films that don’t really matter. It means more to me now because my kids are going to see them, and I want them to be proud.”

Whether you were Team Jennifer or Team Angelina, whether you like his hair short or long, whether you like him clean-shaven or with a goatee or beard, Brad Pitt is not only one of the sexiest men alive, he is a real “Man of Style.”

Yours Truly,
Vanessa
