Je t’aime, Paris…

Paris Victor Hugo quote / www.vanessahwood.com

Today, Paris will forever be different. I’ve never been to Paris, but just knowing that I will never see the Notre Dame Cathedral in its original glory has forever changed my vision of the Paris that I have come to love from across the ocean.

My dreams of visiting Paris has not died, but has been stoked by the fire at Notre Dame. My desire to visit the rebuilt version of the historic Cathedral is stronger today than it was yesterday. Today, this Parisian landmark was gutted after a fire ripped through its wooden frame in which the spire and roof collapsed.

I texted my mom today, stating that my heart is broken. Most people don’t understand my love of France, and more specifically, Paris. I mean, the name of my blog is “Green Acres Meets Paris.” If that doesn’t show you how much I love Paris, then I don’t know what does.

But one day, I will make it to France, and visit Paris, and when I do, my heart will explode with love for a city, for a country, that is as resilient as they come.

To my unofficial adopted country and specifically to the city I love from afar… Etre fort. Etre resilient. Je t’aime!

Yours Truly,
Vanessa

P.S. I wrote this post {At Home and In Paris} a few years ago, about my love of Paris. I hope you enjoy it as well.
