Christmas Came Early: FabFitFun 2017 Winter Box

I am a little late in posting about the FabFitFun 2017 Winter Box, but I’ve had a busy couple of weeks. When I arrived home one evening a few weeks ago, I spied this nicely decorated box waiting for me on my front steps. I immediately got excited because for me, this winter box made me feel like Christmas came early this year!

As with my previous FabFitFun boxes this year, I was sent an email previewing some of the items selected for this season’s box. And you want to know the exciting part of seeing this email each season? It allows me to pre-select certain items for my FFF box, like the color of a scarf or a necklace, or whether I want something beauty or wellness related, or it gives me the option to be “surprised”. And for this season’s box, I got to choose the color of my BB Dakota poncho, as well as the color of my 8 Other Reasons Nine Lives choker (either silver or rose gold). Other choices were between wellness and beauty products. I also love the surprises I find, like the tube of Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment.

{*Disclosure: I am a FabFitFun Affiliate, which means if you order from my blog posts, I receive a small commission. #fffaffiliate #fffpartner}

So here are the items I received in this season’s box, which was valued at $380:

This season’s FabFitFun box was designed by Elizabeth Olwen, a Toronto-base surface designer, and “she was inspired by the world around her – from her city, to the beautiful forests of Ontario, to her cherished adventures abroad.” You can find her products from paper to decor, to fabric and bedding on her website or on Instagram.

Every season, FabFitFun partners with a charity and for this season’s box, they partnered with the American Heart Association. According to the AHA, heart disease is the number one killer of women and kills about one woman every 80 seconds. Some of these deaths are preventable, and about 80% of cardiac events may be prevented with simple, positive lifestyle changes.

Follow the AHA’s Life’s Simple 7:

  1. Eat better.
  2. Get active.
  3. Do not smoke.
  4. Maintain a healthy weight.
  5. Manage blood pressure.
  6. Control cholesterol.
  7. Reduce blood sugar.

“Trust your gut,” says 37-year-old Amber Waller, who suddenly went into cardiac arrest while playing in a soccer game. One of her teammates knew CPR and saved her life, otherwise, Amber would have died on that soccer field. “If your heart’s beating funny and you know something is wrong, be persistent and keep getting checkups. If nothing shows up, find another doctor and get another opinion until you get your answer. If you don’t, no one else will.”

I also like the FabFitFun magazine that comes in the box. This season’s magazine shares style tips {how to style your BB Dakota poncho, and your Nine Lives choker}, winter drink recipes {from Ayesha Curry}, beauty tips {the best looks for your eye shape}, skin care tips, and fitness tips {from Jillian Michaels}. One special feature in this season’s magazine is s the “to-do list for 2018”, featuring things to do every week of the year. For example, week 1 of January 2018 says to “incorporate another culture’s New Year’s tradition into yours.” I’m planning to pin this to-do list on my vision board for 2018. I may not accomplish everything on this list, but I’m going to try!

The magazine in the Fall box featured a couple of great recipes from Ayesha Curry, the wife of NBA great Stephen Curry. She is the author of her own cookbook, “The Seasoned Life: Food, Family, Faith, and the Joy of Eating Well”. Well, this Winter box included a homemade ceramic mug by Ayesha. There were three colors with three sayings on them: “Love you a Latte” in pink; “I’d rather be in bed” in pale blue; and “Coming in Hot” in white and black.

For those of you who already receive the FabFitFun box, what is your favorite part about this subscription box? Do you like to choose your items, or do you like to be surprised? I’d love to hear your thoughts, so leave a comment below!

Yours Truly,
Vanessa
