Hair Color Trends for Fall 2016

I’ve written about my hair several times, about wanting to change the style or the color. And it’s that time of the year where I’m ready to change it up again.

So what do I have in mind?

Well, I’ve been doing some reading to find out what the hair color trends are for this Fall 2016. Of course, rose gold tones are really on-trend right now. This color looks great on blondes who are looking to try something a little different. For those of us with darker hair tones, you will want to make an appointment with your stylist to achieve the rose gold look.

Other hair color trends that are popular this fall are blue grey, violet grey, and pink grey tones. I also like the “granny gray” color trend. The key is to select a shade that is flattering to your skin tone.

To maintain vibrant color, you’ll want to use color-protecting shampoo, and avoid excessive heat styling and the sun’s harmful UV rays.

If you’re on a budget, like me, and you want to extend the time in between salon visits, I recommend a low-maintenance color, typically within one to two levels of your natural level.

But don’t shampoo your hair too much or too often because your color will fade faster. Also, hair loses shine from product buildup and excessive heat styling, so invest in a good clarifying shampoo, only shampooing once a month to refresh your hair. Also invest in a good quality deep-conditioning product that restores luster and moisture.

Bronde works well on most skin tones because it is a happy  medium between a flat brown and being over highlighted.

The ombre hair color phenomenon has evolved into more subtle color transitions from dark to light instead of the ombre’s traditional hard contrast of past seasons.

My husband often reminds me that it’s time to color my hair because my graying roots shine where I part my hair on the right side. So one way to hide a regrowth is to start playing around with where you part your hair. As your color grows out, switch it up to a diagonal parting or try parting it on the other side.

Want to try the hair color trends without the commitment? Opt for temporary color that washes out in two shampoos or less.

So what hair color trend would you like to try this Fall?

Yours Truly,
Vanessa
