Blogtober is in Full Swing: Day 5

I had emailed a blogger friend of mine in California and she said that she was participating in “Blogtober”, which I thought was really cool. Basically you blog every day in the month of October, thus “Blogtober.” Then I thought to myself… I’m already doing this so I figured I’d jump on in and see what we can discover about each other!

So let me play catch up for just a minute or so…

Day 1 – Introduction
My name is Vanessa and by day I work as a Registered Medical Assistant to a General Surgeon in a large surgical practice in Knoxville, Tenn. I LOVE MY DAY JOB! It also helps that I enjoy the wonderful people who I work with and laugh with on a daily basis! Then my evenings and weekends are filled with blogging, spending time with my husband, Mike, (usually at a car show), and snuggling with our two fur-babies, Daisy and Doc. I have been blogging since January 2012, starting it on a whim after I received an antique dress form for Christmas (2011) from my husband and my parents. I posted a dress form outfit once a week that first year. I basically started writing, just for me, but I’m glad you found my little piece of “Green Acres” and enjoy reading my blog!

Day 2 – 20 Facts About Me
Last year, I wrote a couple of blog posts listing random facts about myself. Check ’em out!

Day 3 – The Meaning of My Blog Name
Back in the Spring when I changed the name of my blog from “My Life This Year” to “Green Acres Meets Paris”, I wrote a blog post explaining why, titled Dah-ling I Love You but Give Me Park AvenueI’m a city girl in the country, just like Zsa Zsa Gabor’s character in the classic TV show, Green Acres. If you haven’t watched the show, then you must put it on your “to see” list!

Day 4 – Earliest Childhood Memory
I remember my time in pre-school, when we lived in Lubbock, Texas, and having a crush on a boy named Patrick. I also remember when I was young, about pre-school age, having a dress that had Holly Hobby on it and that I wore until it became a shirt. I loved that dress/shirt. I think that if I could find an adult size Holly Hobby dress that I would wear it every day! I also remember my brother, Tim, dragging me around our little house in Lubbock and him slipping and busting his chin open. He had to have stitches.

And so that brings us to today…

Day 5 – My Guilty Pleasure
I love pedicures, but my real guilty pleasure is watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians. I know, I know… but that’s what a “guilty pleasure” is… something that one enjoys but it not generally held in high regard by others. When I found out that Kim Kardashian West was going to be speaking at the BlogHer 16 conference in L.A., I literally flipped out! I was so excited! I told everyone who would listen, but they just rolled their eyes and said bashed her and asked if she was going to teach us (bloggers) how to make and market a sex tape. But she was well-spoken, professional, honest, and funny. She spoke to a packed room full of lovers and haters, and swayed a lot of haters to the lovers side. A few years ago, when Kim was in the midst of dating and ultimately marrying that goofy basketball player, I too, was a hater. It took me a couple of years to realize that I actually liked her best out of all the Kardashians. I have watched the family grow, take vacations, get married, divorce, separate, have children, fight and then make up with each other, and through it all, they have remained a close-knit family. So there you have it… my guilty pleasure!

So what is your guilty pleasure? Do you love watching the Kardashians like I do? Head on down to the comments section and tell me about your guilty pleasure. We may have more in common than you think!

Come back tomorrow for Day 6 of Blogtober!

Yours Truly,
Vanessa

    1. Emma,
I hadn’t heard of Blogtober before this year either. Last year I participated in a month long writing challenge, but I don’t think it was in part with NaBloPoMo.
So chocolate cake for breakfast? Been there, done that, and I approve! You’ve got a great guilty pleasure! I may have to adopt your guilty pleasure!
Thanks for stopping by Green Acres!
