Happy Fourth of July

When I think of Independence Day, I don’t necessarily think of the Will Smith movie where he goes off and fights an alien invasion. No, I think of Independence Day as a day full of barbecues, parades, open air concerts, baseball games, political speeches and ceremonies, as well as fireworks. I mean, we can’t forget the fireworks, am I right?

Independence Day of the United States, also referred to as the Fourth of July or July Fourth in the U.S., is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, by the Continental Congress declaring that the thirteen American colonies regarded themselves as a new nation, the United States of America, and no longer part of the British Empire. Independence Day is the National Holiday for the United States. (Source: Wikipedia)

So as you get together with family and friends today, take a moment to think about all of the countries that do not have the freedoms we have today. Think about what the late, great President Ronald Reagan said, “Let the Fourth of July always be a reminder that here in this land, for the first time, it was decided that man is born with certain God-given rights; that government is only a convenience created and managed by the people, with no powers of its own except those voluntarily granted to it by the people. We sometimes forget that great truth, and we never should.”

Happy Fourth of July! Stay safe!

Yours Truly,
Vanessa
