What I'm Reading… I Quit Sugar

“I quit sugar!”

Those are words that will (hopefully) come out of my mouth with a little more enthusiasm than I’m feeling right now, especially since I had a cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting this morning for breakfast.

I recently purchased Sarah Wilson’s book, I Quit Sugar, with every intention to quit the sweet stuff. My sugar addiction is off the charts!  I’m giving myself some time to thoroughly read the book, to clean out my cupboards and fridge, and to develop an attack plan. Thankfully, my friend, Katy, said that she would quit sugar with me. Now I’m accountable to someone other than myself.

This “visual guide” from Just Health blog really sets the scene for this 8-week program.

The book details the program week-by-week, and includes a shopping list and 108 sugar-free recipes, from BLD (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) to desserts, sweet treats, and savory snacks. For example, take a look at these healthy bounty bars.

I may have to modify a few recipes because my husband is soy and lactose intolerant, but for the most part, I’m kind of excited to start this program and try out some of the recipes in the book.
