Kiss Me, I'm Irish!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I hope you are wearing green today, because if you’re not, then someone can pinch you… Or if you’re wearing green, you can expect someone to kiss you because you are Irish… Or something like that.

I like this holiday because green is my favorite color and I like me Lucky Charms! Sorry, I was trying out some Irish humor… But seriously, I don’t wear green a lot, unless you count the several pairs of knickers I’ve got in varying shades of green. Sorry, T.M.I. Anyway, I like wearing green because it brightens up my green eyes. And green give me a positive, springy vibe!

So today, celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in style with a tasty treat, a delicious drink, and watch some good Irish movies with your friends.

Start your day in style by wearing something green. Here is some fashion inspiration, straight from Haute Cocktail.

If you head out to watch a St. Patrick’s Day parade, I hope you either see a leprechaun or some green people dressed in tartan kilts, like these below (Planet Green Recycle).

For those of us who don’t like beer, much less green beer, here are some tasty green drinks from Valuable Junk from an Urban Cowgirl.

And speaking of movies, gather some friends and share a quick meal of green eggs and ham and green beer. Then settle in to watch a couple of these great Irish movies. Now, they are not true Irish movies, but they either are filmed in Ireland or are about Irish families and/or life. For a description of the following movies, check out Imdb.

1.) Leap Year, featuring Amy Adams and Matthew Goode. This rom-com showcases the wonderfully green landscape of Ireland.
2.) Waking Ned Devine, featuring Ian Bannen, David Kelly, and Finnula Flanagan. Even though this film is set in airplane, it was filmed in the Isle of Man, which is part of the U.K.
3.) The Matchmaker, featuring Janeane Garofalo, David O’Hara, and Milo O’Shea. I never saw Janeane as a leading lady, but she holds her own in this not-well-known rom-com.
4.) The Brothers McMullen, featuring Jack Mulcahy, Michael McGlone, and Edward Burns (who also wrote and directed this movie). This movie is about three Irish Catholic brothers.
5.) The Quiet Man, featuring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara. This is an oldie, but a goodie! I mean, you can’t go wrong with a John Wayne movie, right?

And finally, to end this post, I wanted to share with you the Irish philosophy.
