My Week in Pins – Wreaths

I love making wreaths for Christmas and the winter holiday season. For me it’s rather relaxing and it taps into the creative side of my brain.

So this week in pins, I thought I’d do two things: (1) show off a few of the great wreaths I found on Pinterest; and (2) show you how easy it is to make your own wreath!

First up are a couple of wreaths I found – yes, on Pinterest – but more importantly, they are also on Esty and are available for purchase.

This lime green feather wreath with red ball ornament details is fabulous for the really girly-girl. It’s available at The Wright Wreath on Etsy.

This Christmas tree-shaped wreath is really unique! It is available at Red With Envy Designs on Etsy.

This third wreath is simple and yet, totally captures the holiday spirit! This wreath and several others can be viewed on Jennifer Johner’s website at http://jenniferjohner.typepad.com.

Now here is how I made my own Christmas wreath.

Here’s what you’ll need:
*1 round straw wreath wrapped in plastic. I purchased mine at Hobby Lobby for $3.99
*2 12-foot packages of garland. Any color should do. I purchased mine at Hobby lobby. Each package was $7.99, but I got all my Christmas decorations items 50% off, making this a fantastic, and inexpensive, holiday decoration!
*3-5 straight pins
*1 door hanger

Directions: Using a straight pin (or you could use a glue gun), pin one end of the garland into the wreath, punching the pin through the garland and the plastic wrapped around the wreath. Then start wrapping the garland around the wreath.

Pin, or glue, the end of the garland to the wreath, which should be wrapped in plastic.

When you are done with the first strand, once again use a straight pin and push it through the ends of the first strand the beginning of the second strand of garland and start wrapping it around the wreath until the end of the second strand meets back up with the first strand.

Easy, homemade, Christmas wreath, made by me!

I use two 12-foot strands of garland because I found out the hard way that one strand doesn’t quite cover the entire wreath.

All the wreaths decorating my home are handmade by yours truly! Three of my handmade wreaths are hanging in the offices where I work!

So what type of wreath is hanging on your front door or hanging over your mantle? Do you make your own wreaths? I’d love to hear from you!

Have a great day!
