“I Have a Dream…”: Remembering Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream… A dream of peace, freedom, and hope. Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and many people around the United States have honored the legacy of this man. I am reminded of the Oscar-nominated movie, Selma, about the march from Selma, Ala., to Montgomery, Ala., in 1965, to secure equal voting rights, Martin Luther King Jr.’s words ring true as much today as they did in 1965. {Images borrowed from 1 // 2 } You can read Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I have a dream” speech HERE. Celebrating National Hat Day Today

I bet you didn’t know that today is National Hat Day! And in honor of this holiday, I’m celebrating by strapping on my motorcycle helmet and taking my Vespa out for a ride later this afternoon, while my husband rides his Harley Davidson. National Hat Day, which is a holiday you won’t find on any calendar, is always celebrated on January 15th. Did you know that more body heat is lost from your head than any other body part? “National Hat Day is not intended to just keep your noggin warm. Its a chance to make a statement and to […]

Links I Love

I know I have touted the awesomeness of Bloglovin’ before, but it truly is one of the main websites I go to to read some wonderful blogs. I also subscribe to and enjoy reading several blogs, and I am always excited to get their daily and/or weekly newsletters. So in the spirit of sharing, here are some link I love right now. January Reading List – Damsel in Dior Jacey Dupree’s reading lists always has a great selection and this month’s reading list is no different. I’m actually looking forward to reading Cat Marnell’s “How to Murder Your Life: A Memoir”. […]

Just Put on Your Red Shoes and Dance the Blues

If there were ever one famous rocker from my childhood whose music drew me in like a moth to a flame, it was David Bowie. He made me want to put on my red shoes {even though I didn’t have any red shoes} and “dance the blues.” A year ago yesterday, this iconic singer, songwriter, and actor passed away. It was a shock to millions of people, myself included, but his music will live on in the hearts of all of us. “Let’s Dance” and “Little China Girl” were so memorable for me. His androgynous look, his unique voice, his […]

Fashion Favorites of the 2017 Golden Globes

Believe it or not, but I did not watch the Red Carpet shows for the 2017 Golden Globes. I wanted to be surprised by the looks of some of my favorite actresses and celebrities. The color spectrum was fabulous, as always. Some actresses played it safe, while others took a daring chance and it paid off for them. Here are 21 of my favorite looks of the 2017 Golden Globes. Daring to Bare: Mandy Moore, Kristen Bell, and Busy Phillips wore stunning black dresses and none of them wore necklaces. Mandy’s sheer cape is a nice touch to the very […]

10 Tips on How to Stay Warm and Stylish this Winter

Winter is here and I’ve got some great tips on how to stay warm while looking like a fashionista! Friday was my birthday and it actually snowed! Talk about an unexpected, but pretty awesome, birthday surprise! It was also 19-degrees outside and my tushie was freezing! {Thank God for the seat warmers in my VW!} On Saturday, my husband took me out for lunch at Longhorn’s Steakhouse for my birthday. I wear scrubs all week and so the weekends are mine to fashion as I want, and I love to show off my style. So on Saturday I wore my […]

As part of “My 101 Things to do in 1001 Days” Challenge, I added the task to answer “50 questions which will free your mind.” These questions really make me stop to think. I encourage you to answer these questions. You may remember that I started answering these questions a several months ago. I am answering five questions a month. Last month, on October 7, 2016, I answered 21-25. […]

Cheers to My Fellow Capricorns

Happy Birthday to my fellow Capricorns! I recently took a short quiz on Alex and Ani, to find out my personal blueprint. I already knew that my birthstone was a garnet, a fiery royal stone. The garnet is a sign of passion, strong energy, and motivation. I’m really loving this garnet wrap ring from Alex and Ani — so dainty! {Alex and Ani, January Ring Wrap with Swarovski Crystals – $28} Driven Capricorns, an earth sign, seek to understand their unique truth and is associated with resilience and ambition. The ambitious Birth is associated with my birth month. Known for […]

This Year I Will Be Fierce

{ Image borrowed from The Days of the Chic } As the first day of 2017 came to a close, I kicked my feet up at the end of the evening reflecting on all I had accomplished on the first day of the new year. It was a little rainy, but I was thankful for this new day! I wrote a couple of blog posts, washed and dried a couple of loads of laundry, washed the dishes, and organized my husband’s dresser using the KonMari Method. I thought about the last sentence I wrote in yesterday’s blog post — “12 new chapters, 365 new […]

New Year’s Eve Around the World

Happy New Years! I always try {but sometimes fail} to stay up and watch the ball drop in Times Square in New York City. By the time you read this, you will also have celebrated New Year’s in your own way, with family and/or friends, with a fancy cocktail or non-alcoholic beverage of your choice. You will have watched fireworks light up the midnight sky, turned to your love and planted a big kiss on their lips, and sang the New Year’s Eve Song, “Auld Lang Syne”. Well, I’m a bit of a home-body, so yes, I watched the celebration […]
