Dress Form Outfit: Summer Style

This summer I’m all about finding new ways to wear items in my wardrobe that don’t get much use, and the outfit featured in this month’s “Dress Form Outfit” post is a small step out of my comfort zone.

I don’t usually wear shorts {of any length or style} out in public, mainly because I don’t always use my tanning towels or my sunless tanning lotions and my legs are whiter than snow. The other thing is, I’m not a big fan of my arms so I try to keep them covered.

With that said, I really like this outfit and can definitely see myself wearing it… on repeat, with different colored sleeveless tops. It’s a cool, casual daytime outfit that I could wear to the flea market, the farmer’s market, an antique fair, or shopping with my gal pals.

{If you look closely at this photo above, you can see my sweet dog, Doc.}

The shorts are several years old and hit just above my knee. They are what some people call Bermuda shorts, while others may describe them as walking or dress shorts. They are “vintage” {because I refuse to say they are old, but I think I’ve had them for almost 15 years or more}, and I can’t remember where I got them or how much I paid for them. {Similar style here.}

The tank top is from Forever 21 and I got it several years ago. I think I may have paid about $3.90, which I think is a bargain. The hem came undone, so I used my sewing machine to stitch it back together. {Similar style here.}

The sleeveless cardigan was purchased at a Goodwill store in Knoxville, Tenn., earlier this summer. I think I paid less than $4. {Similar style here.}

Dress Form Outfit: Love this stylish belt bag! The belt is too wide to fit in any of the belt loops on my jeans, but I think it looks fine just to wear over the tank top.

The belt, which has a small removable pouch, can be worn loosely on the waist or hips. It doesn’t hold much, but if you don’t need to carry much {except like just an ID, some money, credit cards, and a car key} then you should be fine. {Similar style here.}

Dress Form Outfit: This aromatherapy tassel necklace is the perfect accessory, in that the green disc in the center is doused in peppermint essential oil to help boost my energy levels.

The necklace is an aromatherapy tassel necklace, which I purchased at a $5 jewelry sale at the hospital across from the doctor’s office where I work. If you look closely, you’ll see the center of the circle is green {my favorite color}. That’s where I put my essential oil {right now it’s peppermint, for a pick-me-up during those afternoon slumps}. {Similar style here.}

To complete the look, I’d like to purchase a pair of black sandals this summer, which would go perfectly with this outfit. Or I could just wear my new tan Coach flats that I purchased a few weeks ago from Burlington Coat Factory.

Coming up next month, I’ll feature a date night outfit on my dress form, using these same black shorts. Stay tuned!!!

Yours Truly,
Vanessa
