My Dress Form Outfit #42

Now that Autumn has truly arrived, with the cooler weather and overcast skies, I have begun to embrace the warmer clothing styles in my small closet. This week, I am showcasing a taupe colored long-sleeve turtle neck sweater dress. I cinched the waist with a wide corset-style belt. I purchased this sweater dress at the Goodwill in Kitty Hawk, NC, during this past summer. It only cost me $4.99 (before tax, of course), but what a bargain, am I right? I would pair this dress with a pair of warm black riding boots for the daytime and then I would […]

Dress Form Outfit #21

Memorial Day is less than two weeks away, meaning that everyone will have a long weekend to gather with family and friends for cookouts, parties, and mini-vacations. I think this one-piece short set will make the perfect cookout outfit. It’s shorts, it’s light-weight, and it’s comfortable for standing around in the heat or under a shade tree. I purchased this black one-piece romper at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughter Thrift Store in Kitty Hawk, N.C. I paired it with an animal print belt and a long silver necklace. Of course, the outfit wouldn’t be complete without a cute (and comfortable) pair […]

Dress Form Outfit #19

This blue and white striped boat-neck mini dress was a great find at the Goodwill in Kitty Hawk, NC. It is from the GAP and was $4.59! It is so comfortable and I’ve worn it several times since I brought it home a couple of weeks ago! It has three-quarter length sleeves and hits mid-thigh (I’m 5’8″)… kind of short, but it covers my arse well enough and I know how to bend over like a lady. (I don’t bend over. I squat with my knees together – like a lady should!) Have a fabulous “thrifty” week!

Dress Form Outfit #18

Last week I went to the Outer Banks in North Carolina with my husband.  Neither of us had been there before and luckily we had a few hours one afternoon so we hit up a couple of thrift stores in the Kitty Hawk area. I gave myself a $25 Thrift Store Challenge, meaning I could only spend $25 total at one or more thrift stores. Luckily, I ended up with five great pieces from two different thrift stores. This week’s Dress Form Outfit features one of those fabulous finds! At The Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughter Thrift Store, located in Kitty Hawk, […]

Wanna-be Fashionista

Fashionable Quotes / www.vanessahwood.com

This year for Christmas, I got an antique dress form from my husband and my parents. I have always wanted a dress form. This is my first, but I can tell you this – it will not be my last! I’m not a fashion designer nor a fashion blogger. I’m not going to school for fashion design, nor am I a “maxanista” fashionista who shops at TJMaxx. I just love fashion – plain and simple. I love everything about fashion: the magazines, the shows (reality and documentaries), and the fashion that actresses wear in movies and on television shows. I subscribe to […]
