About

Welcome to “Green Acres Meets Paris”!

My name is Vanessa and I live in East Tennessee. “Green Acres Meets Paris” is a lifestyle blog, since it encompasses so many topics, but as of 10/1/2025, I am refocusing my blog a little.

Green Acres Meets Paris

When I started this blog, my goal was to “find my voice”. One thing is for certain… I love writing! Slowly but surely, I feel like I’ve started finding my voice. I love the fact that there are some people out there who like my blog enough to follow it! For that, I say THANK YOU!

As I said earlier, I’m refocusing my blog a little. It’s been FOUR long years since I last posted on this blog platform, and the reason I stepped away is because I was dealing with the loss of my husband and best friend of 25+ years, Mike. He succumbed to COVID on 7/24/2021, after a short 11-day battle with this deadly virus.

At the time of his passing, we had several beautiful four-legged “children”. You can check out their Instagram page {@the_4legged_wood-clan} to see photos.

We had a Pitbull-Mountain Cur mix named Doc (who sadly passed away 6 months to the day after my husband passed away), and a German Shepherd mix named Ozzy, who we adopted from a no-kill shelter in Knoxville, and who was once owned by my friend and her husband (who also sadly passed away a couple of years ago).

We also shared an Australia shepherd/Texas blue heeler mix named Kate, who is still with me and is my ride-or-die buddy. Then there are the three cats – KitKat {mama}, and her babies, Sonny and Cher {Cher moved inside a few years ago after suffering an injury and was ignored by KitKat and bullied by Sonny.

We also had a special needs goat named Trooper; and a miniature horse named Duke. I rehomed them in 2024 to an equine rescue and rehab home in Crossville, Tenn., because I felt they could be cared for better there than what I could provide them.

Our oldest, CT, was a German Shepherd who passed away a few years ago from cancer. She was 12 years old. Dakota, our Chi-Pom mix, passed away on Veteran’s Day (in 2015), and was he was 16. Daisy Mae, our Beagle-Poodle mix, crossed over the rainbow bridge on March 20, 2018, and both me and my husband have been lost ever since. All three of these beloved babies will alway hold a special place in our hearts!

I have a B.A. in English, with a minor in Religion and Business, I think… (at least I think had enough college credits to have a Business minor). I’ve worked as a video editor at a Chattanooga TV station during my senior year in college. Then I worked as a news reporter for a newspaper, followed by a 6-year stint in PR for a small private Christian university. Now I work as a Registered Medical Assistant, working with two surgeons. Needless to say, I love my day job very much.

Anyway, enough about me 🙂 THANK YOU (again) for taking time to visit my blog! Hopefully you will find it entertaining, enlightening, and encouraging! (There’s a little alliteration for all the English majors out there!)

Again, welcome to my “Green Acres!”
