Today’s blog post features not one, but two {yes, TWO} dress form outfits. Both dresses are from the summer dress collection at Old Navy. {And no, this is not a sponsored post for Old Navy.} I recently wrote a guest blog post for Lana with Lifestyle Queen Bee, about spending only $50 on an outfit and using items from my personal wardrobe to take the outfit from day to night. To fully take advantage of my $50, I went to Old Navy. I had seen their commercials about their summer dresses and decided to head over and see what I could find for this challenge. I left with two dresses, a plaid tunic button-down shirt, and a navy shirt with a screen print of the Eiffel Tower. But the real challenge features the two dresses I purchased.
First up is this heather gray fit & flare jersey-knit dress. I paired it with my Ann Taylor denim jacket and silver flip-flops. I would wear my silver Gorjana necklace, which I received in my Winter FabFitFun box.
Then to take it from day to night, I paired the dress with a darker gray pashmina scarf, my Aldo platform wedge sandals, and a chunky Kim Rogers necklace. Another day look features a LOGO by Lori Goldstein vest {which I purchased at a thrift store in Florida} with my silver flip-flops.
The second dress was this sleeveless cutout-back shift dress in “lost at sea” navy. Once again, I paired this dress with my Ann Taylor denim jacket and my pink Converse chucks. The night outfit pairs this dress with my G by Giuliana jacket, Me Too! lace-up wedges, and my Laguna Adjustable Lariat necklace from Gorjana {which I purchased at BlogHer #16 in Los Angeles last August}.
For another night-time look, I topped this navy shift dress with a patterned scarf and my lace-up wedges.
I could wear either the plaid button-down shirt or Eiffel Tower t-shirt over my navy shift dress, which would give the dress a totally different look from the once pictured above. I could pair a cute pair of light tan booties with the navy dress for a chic boho look.
These two dresses may still be on sale, and they come in several colors. In total, I spent less than $30 on both dresses. The extra $20 went to purchase the Eiffel Tower shirt (in “lost at sea” navy) and a blue and pink plaid button-down shirt {similar style here}. My total for these four pieces was approximately $46.
My advice is to take advantage of the great sales at Old Navy and purchase several colors and styles of summer dresses. I promise that you’ll wear them all year long if you style your dresses for each season.
